Lesson about using short and long notes in rhythm composition

In Music this week, NSU had a surprise visit from our Juilliard Curriculum Specialist, Kathryn Andersen who led the children on an interesting lesson about rhythm.

They learned about Beethoven’s 5^th symphony and how he used short and long notes to compose the allegro (first movement). Our students did their own rhythmic composition using pictures of short and long animals as notation.

Kathryn closed the lesson by playing some of their favourite rhymes on the violin.

The Secondary School Production - Auditions to Take Place Next Week

The Drama department is looking for actors from Years 7-9 to participate in the school production of 'Arabian Nights' by Dominic Cooke. Students who would like to participate must attend one of the auditions outlined below and be able to attend rehearsals on the key dates.
