The boys showed the perfect response to last week's disappointing loss by winning all of their matches, scoring 8 goals in the process.
If truth be told, the team came out of the blocks slowly and, during their first match against a resilient ICS side, it looked like the combination of immense heat and sunshine might take it's toll on the boys. However, perseverance prevailed and the match finished 1-0; Zach coming up with a great goal.
During the second match, against ISS, Dover took advantage of a wide and spacious pitch by working the ball around brilliantly in possession; Alfonso and Kien linking up particularly well on the right side. The match finished 2-0.
Our third game of the afternoon saw DCIS pitted against DCSG D and also showcased our best performance of the tournament. The entire team produced, arguably one of our most convincing displays of passing, positions and awareness - prompting the opposition manager to question what the boys had been fed for breakfast that morning. A superb effort from front to back on the pitch with Connor, in particular, producing a sublime performance; causing chaos on the left wing!
Our final game of the afternoon was a rematch against DCSG E who had performed so well in the reverse fixture one week prior. Expectations were high and a strong performance from the whole team was the only way to put the disappointments of last week to bed. After a cagey first few minutes, the boys quickly found their stride and rhythm and ended up deserved winners, scoring 3 goals over the course of the match.
Overall, a successful final Thursday tournament with some excellent performance from the whole side. The boys now travel to the Arena Sports Ground on Saturday hoping to be in the running for medals and glory. After a consistent performance throughout the season, will the boys have what it takes to be crowned champions and write a fairytale ending to a fantastic season?
The Finals await!
