Dear DCIS Parents and Guardians,

I hope our children and hopefully some families are enjoying their long weekend. Last week was extremely busy so I am sure students are enjoying the change of pace. I am very grateful to all the parents who helped their children get into the spirit of Book Week last Monday in our dressing up day. It was great to see so many characters around the school as well as our senior team all dressed as Dalmatians led by Ms Hancock as a most authentic Cruella de Vil. Along with the Book Sale and the Author talk we had a very successful week.

On Tuesday we had our Futures Fair where parents volunteered to come into school to talk to our Secondary students about career options. Over 50 parents gave up their Tuesday morning to speak to some very eager students, I am so grateful to all our volunteers. It is amazing to see the diversity of careers amongst our parent body.

The Primary discos were a brilliant success, a real task of things to come when we start the Julliard dance programme next year. Many thanks to the DCA committee and volunteers for running such a fun evening.

We have done a great amount of work this school year on the UN sustainable goals. I’ve recently met with two groups of students – one from Year 2 and one from Year 12 – on ways we can improve our impact on the environment and we hosted a day of workshops at the end of last term from the Target 4 Green organisation. I am very pleased that we will have another two students representing us at the High Level Government meeting with UNICEF in New York in July. Congratulations to Sarah and Lola who will travel to America with other representatives of NAE South East Asia schools in the summer.

I hope you have a great week and we look forward to welcoming children back to school on Wednesday

Have a great week everyone!

Mr. Christopher Short
