Basketball Match - TX vs AP1

01 October 2015

There was a packed house this week at TX as we hosted the BIS primary school basketball derby between TX campus and AP1 campus. Lots of parents and families from both campuses were in attendance and it was great to see so many supporting sport at BIS. It also made for a great atmosphere.

The girls played first and flew out of the traps. Great play by Susu Le bringing the ball forward creating lots of baskets for Kelly Tran who used her height and shooting skills to great effect by netting herself 3 baskets. This meant that at half time TX were leading 8-2.

Changes were made at half time but that did not alter the girls domination. Excellent passing and retaining of possession from Minh Anh Mai and Tu Tu Nguyen created chances for Susu Le to extend TX’s lead. Both Minh Anh and Tutu played brilliantly and the player of the match was a hard decision to make.

FINAL SCORE: TX      14 – 4     AP1       SCORERS: Kelly Tran (6pts) Susu Le (8pts)

The boys then took to the court to a rousing reception from the large crowd.  Although they looked to be the considerably smaller team, what they lacked in height they made up for in hard work and speed.

Khoa Tran scored the first basket of the game, which was quickly cancelled out by AP1.  The game was an end to end exciting affair but good defending from both teams meant the score remained at 2-2 for what seemed like an age.

AP1 began to use their height advantage and added two baskets before the break, before the excellent Duy Anh Mai gave a brilliant pass to Khoa Tran who finished his basket well. Both feeds for TX, Duy Anh and Bonny Nguyen were excellent and have obviously been listening and learning at practice because their vision and passing was very good all game. Half time score TX 4-6 AP1.

The second half was just as entertaining as the first, a close fought and tense game that was very good to watch. Substitutes came into the game and added some nice touches Nghia Phan and Ken Bui played well after coming on.

AP1 began to get on top of the game and stretched the score to 10-4 in their favour. Another superb pass from Duy Anh found Khoa who added his 6th point of the game before an excellent steal, drive and layup from Bonny Nguyen set up a tense finish. Unfortunately TX just ran out of time.

FINAL SCORE: TX     8-10     AP1            SCORERS: Khoa Tran (6pts) Bonny Nguyen (2pts)

Two very good games and it was excellent to see so many parents there to watch. No fixtures until after half term now. Our next game sees TX take on The American School of Vietnam on October 28th, come along and cheer the team on!
