It has been another very busy week at An Phu Primary Campus, with learning for all being the definite focus……..
Business and Enterprise Day
Slime to soda, massage to cool down, pizza to home made soap. Every class has been a business and every child a consumer. Well done to everyone at AP1 this week who have turned their maths lessons into profitable businesses, donating their hard earned money to deserving BIS community partners. Read more about the week in this article. I hope that you enjoy the cinema presentation from F1 classes below, get a feel for the atmosphere if you were unable to attend the event and watch just one of the many advertisements that were made to market their products - well done everyone!
Year 1 enjoy a visit from the Thien Phuoc children
In recent weeks students from Year One have been entertaining some children in our BIS soft play room. Each Tuesday, a small number of visitors come to enjoy our facilities and play with our Year One students. Accessing the post by Ms Nicole McKelvie, 1I Class Teacher for your information.
Learning in Year 6
Year 6 recently had the opportunity to take their learning out of their own classrooms and over the bridge to AP2 where the Geography Department had laid out their new giant world map for us to investigate. More details can be found in the post by Chris McKelvie, Year 6 Teacher and MP3 Leader
Chatty Kidz is an application for iPads that has been designed to allow distant family members and friends to help children to learn through informal methods where they can practice words, reading, sentence structuring, seek help in projects, interact with pictures and more. Find out how to help your child(ren) to learn more through the post by Esther Russell, Y6 Teacher & Integrated Technologies Leader

I have the pleasure of introducing our most recent post where we continue to interview two new members of the AP1 team in order to learn more about their first few weeks at our school. BIS HCMC Invitational Swim Meet
It was great to see over 200 primary swimmers taking part in the BIS HCMC Invitational Swim meet - Pool 1 on Saturday 10th October. There were swimmers from 7 other International Schools from within the City and Hanoi capital. All students from BIS TX, BIS AP1, BIS Hanoi, AIS, ISHCMC, ABC and EIS HCMC contributed to the success of the event and also achieved many personal bests. More details can be found on the post by Mr Vinh Nguyen, Swimming Coach
Young Musician of the Year
With such outstanding performances at the Semi-Final our AP1 judges had a tough decision to make. Only a small number of children have made it through from AP1 to now compete in the Grand Final against the semi-finalists from TX. Good luck to our finalists. A slideshow detailing all of our semi finalists can be found by visiting the Music Blog, updated by Frances Amos, Music Teacher and Instrumental Leader.

PTG Family Picnic
The AP1 Family Picnic on Sunday 11th October was a fantastic sunny event this year. We had a great turn out, and the children had a fantastic time - from bouncy castles, to manicures, a magic show, candy floss and carnival games, and lots lots more! We had great performances from Cyril & You fitness, and from the Dance Center, and many mums and dads even joined in! More details about the next stages can be found in the post by Mrs Deborah Workman, PTG Family Picnic Committee
PTG - Social Night and International Week at AP1
It has been a very busy half term for the PTG and my thanks go out to all of the many volunteers, both teachers and parents that have given their time to make these events happen. I would like to share with you the post from our recent PTG Social Night and remind parents of an important PTG event in Term 2. International Week and the Global Cafe as part of it, is one of the events the children look forward to most during the school year. It's great fun, entertaining and the volunteers enjoy working on it too. Please consider volunteering and signing up to represent your country during this fabulous event. Use the following link on signupgenius to volunteer. We need your help to make this event as amazing as it can be for the children. It's also a great way to meet parents from your own and other countries!

Thank you to all parents for the support that you have given our school over this first half term of the academic year. Your attendance at school events, together with respectful feedback and trust towards our teachers is the ideal recipe for effective learning and the overall development of your children in our care.
Have a restful and family orientated holiday and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 26th October for much more.
