This week we were delighted to see so many parents at 3 separate Maths Workshops for EYFS, MP1 and MP2 & 3.
Presented by Sarah Curran, Assistant Head EYFS, Andy James and John Handscombe, our Maths Leaders, parents had a chance to see how Maths calculations are introduced and taught from Early Years all the way to Year 6.
In our Early Years Little Big Maths presentation parents were treated to some songs by our F2 children. Ms Sarah talked about the importane of practical Maths and the use of concrete materials from a young age. The importance of Mathematical language was also stressed with practical suggestions gien as to how to help children at home with Maths.
Our students from AP1 helped by working with teachers or on their own to show parents what methods are used to support the teaching of Maths. Maths is all around us and can be taught in avariety of different ways, particularly at a young age where games and the use of mathematical languague helps to embed skills early on.
