The Tu Xuong International Celebration
Dear Parents,
According to the charity OXFAM, a ‘Global Citizen’ is someone who:
- is aware of the wider world and has a sense of their own role as a world citizen
- respects and values diversity
- has an understanding of how the world works
- is outraged by social injustice
- participates in the community at a range of levels, from the local to the global
- is willing to act to make the world a more equitable and sustainable place
- takes responsibility for their actions.
In a week when the world has seen such terrible events take place in Paris, it is even more important that we celebrate our children as global citizens. Our ‘International Celebration’ provides a great opportunity for children from around the world to see themselves as world citizens, show respect to others and learn about the lives of children in other countries.

At BIS, we are committed to providing the best possible education. Of course, this means providing our children with essential English and maths skills, knowledge and understanding, but it so much more. Joining in with the ‘international fair’ on Wednesday and participating in ‘international flag parade’ this morning will leave an impression in the hearts and minds of the children that will stay with them forever; it is great to be a ‘global citizen’ at the Tu Xuong Campus!
We have taken many photos of this week’s events so please have a look at the International Celebration post to see what has been happening:
Community Coffee Morning
This week has been a great celebration of our community at TX, and last week I wrote about the wider community projects that our children get involved in. Next week, we have a coffee morning on Wednesday 25th November at 8.00am in the Multi-purpose Room, firstly to thank everyone for all their support with the international celebration, but I thought it would also be an opportunity to introduce Ms Clover. Ms Clover is our new Community Service Project Manager and will be able to explain a bit more about the community projects at TX and all of the BIS.
Teachers’ Day
Thank you to all the class reps and parents who sent in gifts, cards, cakes, flowers and best wishes today. On behalf of all the teachers, I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ and that it really is our pleasure to teach your children.
