Phuket Soccer 7s - Day 2 UPDATE

09 November 2015

Greetings from rainy Phuket!

The wet weather in Phuket on the second competition day couldn't dampen the spirits of the BIS players, as each team attempted to wrap up their league games and progress in their various knock-out competitions.

The conditions when we first kicked off in the VERY early morning were fantastic, but then the torrential rain started and didn't stop for many hours, These conditions led to farcical football and rightly so the matches were abandoned for two hours.

Unfortunately there was no let up in the rain, which forced the postponement of the plate competition. Before this cancellation, the U13 boys had won their first game in fair conditions, the U13 girls having lost their opening game on penalties and the U19 boys having not played a game in the knock-out stages.

There was still hope for the cup competition to get started in the mid afternoon, but the pitches were still unsafe for play and the whole competition correctly cancelled on safety grounds.

The players have just had a quick eat and a shop in a local market and have just had our highly entertaining awards ceremony.
