Year 7 Medieval Castles

15 April 2015

Year 7 are currently studying the Middle Ages in Europe which was from around 475 CE to 1500CE. They are study about different aspects of life for different people. they have covered crime and punishment, health, the feudal system and religion. The overarching unit question is ‘Were the Middle Ages a good or bad place to live?

The photos show that we also studied castles. Medieval Kings used castles to keep stability inside their country. However, they also used them to defend from external attackers. Some students made their own castles to show attack methods such as a catapult, siege tower, battering rams and scaling ladders. Defensive methods were the development of crenallations, machicolations, portcullis, moats and drawbridges.

You can see that Zelda, Khushi and Yago designed their castles with these in mind. 2015-03-25 07 43 02 2015-03-25 10 56 36 (3)Year 7 History Castles
