Last Friday we were delighted to host the visit of Yonsei University. Ms Jee-Eun Park and Mr Jong Won Hwang delivered a detailed presentation about the application process and entry requirements for the university degree programmes. The community support was fantastic and I estimated approximately 150 people supported this event.
I was able to meet with Ms Park and Mr Hwang before and after the presentation and we discussed in detail the application procedures, candidate profiles and number of applicants admitted in the 2014-15 cycle. A startling 68 applicants were admitted from the 3 – Year applicant pool. Whilst amazed at this level of selectivity I was also extremely proud of our two students who were admitted last year. It certainly gives us a clearer indication of the calibre of student Yonsei seek to admit.
April Korean University Information Evening
We will be hosting the Korean University Information Evening on Tuesday 14th April stating at 6.00 pm in the Study Room. An invitation has been sent to all students and families from Years 10-13. Whilst the focus will be on helping students in Year 13 to better understand the application process and the support we provide we hope the wider community will also be interested in the information we will be sharing.
Do please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know if you plan to attend the event.
Lastly, I am delighted to announce we will be hosting the visit of Korea University on Tuesday 5th May. Mrs Betty Chong has been instrumental in communicating with Korea’s most prestigious universities and this has led to them choosing to attend our school when visiting the city. We will notify our community of the time and venue when this is confirmed.
Since hosting the UK University Fair for International Schools on the 30th of March more of the universities have written to express their enthusiasm for our school and students;
Just a brief note of thanks for your hospitality and welcome; I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the School. I was particularly taken by the enthusiasm and interest of your students in studying at the University of Manchester, and in the UK more generally. It was a delight to meet such polite and engaging young people, to learn more about their education and career aspirations and to share how we can support them in achieving their best performance in their professional and personal lives. Please convey my thanks to your students for attending the fair - I really enjoyed meeting them."
Dr Sophie Hargreaves, University of Manchester
We really enjoyed visiting BIS Ho Chi Minh City and meeting students and some parents there to talk about their future plans. The students seemed very happy with education they are receiving at BIS and they are clearly achieving good results. I also met one student whose brother is currently studying at Essex and apparently having a great time, which is always excellent for us to hear."
