Tuesday 2nd June

Activity group 1 will spend the day flat water rafting

Activity group 2 will spend the day at the mountain school – rope course

Evening – Meal at Earth Camp

07.30 - Just finished breakfast after a good nights sleep. Started raining, but hopefully not enough to curtail any of the morning activities. Will check
in later with our progress.

11.30: A great first morning at Earth Camp with the four classes breaking up into smaller groups todos short educational trek around the local Kampung (village). We also got the chance to pan for tin in the river which backs onto the camp. Plenty of tin ore was recovered, but maybe not enough to open our own BIS Tin Mine!  Of maybe more interest was the family of monkeys watching us panning from across the river.

We then walked off to the local town, finishing a short worksheet on the way. We learnt about rubber tapping, the Kapok tree and tapioca plants. We also had the opportunity to stop and taste some local fruits straight from the trees.

Having lunch now and the getting ready for caving this afternoon. Not before everyone jumped up off their chairs however as a HUGE centipede ambled through the lunch room!

16.30: This afternoon the group visited some awesome
caves, and learnt a lot about their 400 million year formation. After a showery lunchtime it was decided that the underground river was too high so instead the children enjoyed a less challenging (but
equally fun) cave river experience. They enjoyed it so much that they begged to stay! Now to enjoy some free time before dinner.
