Welcome Back - New Academic Year 2015/16

21 August 2015

Dear parents,
Welcome back to all of our new and existing parents. I trust that you have had a very relaxing and family orientated summer holiday and are now looking forward to a learning focused year ahead at An Phu Primary Campus.
Firstly, I would like to formally welcome all of our new students and families to our school. I am very much looking forward to seeing you next Wednesday, 26th August from 7.30am. Please look out for the teachers and their class signs who will direct you to where your children should be lining up. I would like to remind all parents to wear your swipe cards around your neck when you enter using either Gates A, B or C. This procedure is designed to increase the visibility of parents and visitors who are on the school site at any given time - your assistance in this matter is very much appreciated in helping to effectively safeguard your children in our care.

I would like to remind all parents that the day to day procedures at BIS can be found by accessing the Primary Parent Handbook. In addition to this document, please take time to look through the information on the An Phu Primary Campus tab on the BIS Hub. This is where you can find important information and news about our campus. Some useful links to access are:

This week, all of our teachers have been undertaking 5 days of professional development, to ensure that they remain at the forefront of the very latest classroom practice. One of these days was dedicated to the prominent educationalist, Sir John Jones who visited BIS and reinforced the important message that all teachers in school must 'bold',' daring' and 'different' in their pursuit of outstanding learning. If you would like to read more about Sir John Jones, you can find out more on his website.

Finally, I would like to remind you all about some important, upcoming dates:
Tuesday 25th August - New Family Orientation.
All new families to arrive at school by 10.00am

Wednesday 26th August - New school year begins.
I look forward to meeting all families on the playground from 7.30am. Pick up from classrooms at 2.30pm.
Please note that the Terrace Café is open for business from 7.30am until 9.00am and 2.00pm until 4.00pm. Why not come to school earlier to help ease the traffic and enjoy a quality coffee, fresh juice or smoothie. Shading and a cool seated area is located by the side of The Terrace - a great place to meet up with other BIS parents at either drop off or pick up.

Thursday 27th August - CHQ (Extra Curricular Clubs sign up) Workshop
8.15am in Room 216

Friday 28th August - PTG (Parent Teacher Group) Welcome Back Coffee Morning
Come along and meet both new and existing parents over a refreshing cup of coffee or tea. Meet in the AP1 Canteen/Terrace Cafe from 8.15am.

Thank you for taking time to read through the first newsletter of a new academic year. Look out for the link that is sent to you each Friday or simply set the BIS HUB as one of your favourites in your web browser to keep up to date with the many different events and news items that occur throughout a typical week at AP1.

I wish you all, a very pleasant weekend ahead.

Simon Higham, Headteacher
