As the unofficial start to the Academic Year, orientation day is a superb opportunity for new students and parents to familiarise themselves with their new environment.
It is particularly important for our primary children to spend some time in their classroom with their teachers before school officially starts tomorrow.
The first day at school can be daunting and it is really important to us that our new students are as comfortable as possible when they start at BIS HCMC. The orientation process is designed to prepare new students with what to expect, and it is essential that the communication continues during the first few weeks of term.
We have many methods of communicating within the school, including our brand new HUB, where you can find campus specific information that is regularly updated by Heads of Campus.
As you are all now aware, BIS HCMC is also now a part of Nord Anglia Education (NAE), the world’s leading premium schools organisation. This means that we are now a part of a global family of 41 international schools, providing outstanding education to over 32,000 students from preschool through to the end of secondary education. You will be able to find more information about NAE and the global opportunities that come with it from the ‘International Education’ tab on the HUB.
Our city centre campus, Tu Xuong, was the first to greet new students and parents with a short presentation from the new Head of Campus, Ian Battersby. Parents and students also had the opportunity to look around the school and meet the rest of the teaching staff, whose focus, as Mr. Ian described, is very much on “developing the whole child”.
Wednesday 26th August - parents will be welcomed back for parents in The Foyer at 8am.
Monday 7th September - High Tea at Villa Royale.
Thursday 3rd September - Parents' Information Evening
The new parents and students at our District 2 campus in An Phu were introduced to their Head of Campus, Simon Higham, a little later. His message was clear; “trust, communication and support are integral to the relationship between teachers, parents and children”. Parents here got the chance to meet the teaching staff and some of the sixth form students who were kind enough to volunteer their time.
Tuesday 1st September - Meet the teacher, Year 3-Year 6, 5pm
Thursday 3rd September - Meet the teacher, F1-F3, 5pm
Carl Mincher, our new Head of Secondary, closed the day by addressing the parents of new students at our secondary campus. “Success” was at the heart of his presentation, as students embark on the next chapter of their educational careers.
Friday 28th August – PTG Welcome Meeting, 8:15am
All of us at BIS would like to take this opportunity to welcome new students and parents to the school and the community. As the new Academic Year begins tomorrow, we hope that today’s orientation has dispelled any concerns, and that you are all as excited as we are about what we aim to achieve this year.
“Big results require big ambitions” – Heraclitus, Greek Philosopher.
