Basketball Match with AIS

Basketball Match with AIS

The basketball season at TX kicked off on Wednesday after school this week as we hosted both girls and boys fixtures against the Australian International School.

The girls were up first and got off to a fast start. Kelly Tran and Susu Le were dribbling and passing forward well and both scored early baskets to give TX a 4-0 lead. TX continued to dominate the first half with good performances from all the team and reached half time 8-0 in the lead.

The Australians started stronger in the second half and pulled back 4 points soon after the tip off. Good defending from TX however, prevented them scoring again. There was still time for Kelly Tran to add score another basket and take her total to 6 along with Susu.

FINAL SCORE: TX (12) -(4) AIS

SCORERS: Kelly Tran (6pts)    Susu Le (6pts)

The boys then took to the court hoping to pick up where the girls left off. It was the Australians though who started the brighter. They scored the first basket of the game quickly followed by 1 free throw after a foul by Khoa Tran, to give them a 3-0 lead.

After 5 minutes TX finally found a rhythm and showed the skills they had been producing in practice. Good work from Rishi Ahuja and three quick baskets from Andrew Vu, Bonny Nguyen and Khoa Tran saw TX lead 6-3 at half time.

TX started the second half where they had left off in the first with some excellent attacking play. Andrew Vu and Bonny Nguyen added another basket each before Duy Anh Mai produced a superb shot from just inside the 3 point line to give TX a 12-3 lead.

AIS weren’t done however and scored 2 baskets of their own making a nervy final few minutes, The whole team defended excellently though to see out the match.

FINAL SCORE: TX (12) – (7) AIS

SCORERS: Andrew Vu (4pts) Bonny Nguyen (4pts) Khoa Tran (2pts) Duy Anh Mai (2pts)

Well done on a great start for both teams who will feel confident going into next week’s games against the European International School.
