Moon Festival at BIS

Happy Moon Festival

TX was awash with colour this week as the children and staff, wearing the traditional ao dai, celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival. For the last few weeks, the children have been preparing the songs and dances, and recounting the story of Chu Cuoi during their Vietnamese culture lessons.  I want to take this opportunity to say what a fabulous team of teaching assistants we have at TX.  They are often in the background, but work tirelessly, alongside the teachers, to ensure the children have the best possible experience and education, and that the learning environment looks amazing.

EYFS Moon Festival

On Thursday, our EYFS children celebrated Moon Festival; firstly with a parade, and then by taking part in a number of activities which included painting lanterns and making play-dough moon cakes.  This morning was the turn of the children in Years 1 to 6.  We had 3 performances; a dance from Year 1 and 2 children, a traditional song from the Year 3 children, and then the children in 6X danced to a modern moon festival song. Thank you to all the parents who came along to support these events.

Moon Festival Assembly

We took many photos and you can see more in the Moon Festival at BIS post.

Congratulations to the winners of the lantern competition!

Parents' Evening

Thank you to those parents who attended Parents' Evening this week.  These meetings are a valuable time for parents, to discuss with teachers, their child's start to the new school year and their current targets for learning.  Feedback from these meetings has been extremely positive from both parents and teachers.  If you have not yet been able to meet with your child's class teacher, then please do contact them to book an appointment over the next week.

Brilliant Books

As you know, on Monday and Tuesday next week, we will be celebrating reading.  At TX, we really do think books are brilliant! Please let me remind you of the following:

  • On Monday, children come to school dressed as a character from a book

  • Also on Monday, parents are invited to meet our guest authors at 8.00am in the Multi-purpose Room, and then to attend our Book Character Parade - 8.30am in the Sports Hall

  • Monday and Tuesday - our friends at Fahasa will be putting on a book fair in the Library

  • Wednesday 30th September through to Monday 5th October children bring books into school in readiness for the 'Brilliant Book Swap'

  • Thursday 8th October - children will be able to swap books at the 'Book Swap' in the foyer

BBGV Fun Run - Sunday 27th September

Thank you to everyone who has registered to take part in the BBGV Fun Run on Sunday - we have over 100 members of the TX community taking part.  Can I remind you that there will be a group photo at 7.30am. A number of parents have asked about exactly where in District 7 the race will be taking place, so the map is below:

Parents' Corner

25 parents took part in the 'Indian lunch' this Friday. They all had a great time catching up or getting to know each other. The food was delicious and our team of experts, explained a lot about the ingredients and also the origins of the dishes. They had worked along with the Tandoor restaurant to build up a set menu for everyone to enjoy and discover Indian food.

We also took part in a quiz about India.  You can find it online and try it out : https://www.goconqr.com/en-US/p/3558708-How-much-do-you-know-about-India---quizzes Let us know how much you score by sending your results to x.ptg.bis@gmail.com :-)

At the end of the lunch, we had a lucky draw and Truc's mum, Nguyen is the winner of the 300, 000 VND voucher for the Tandoor restaurant.

Don’t miss the next one ! We're planning to lunch in the dark...more details to come !
