Year 2 - Entry Point

03 September 2015

On Monday, Year 2 had the opportunity to experience different forms of transport during the Entry Point to their new IPC topic, ‘From A to B’.

The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) delivers a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum for 3-12 year olds, with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for every subject, for international mindedness and for personal learning. It has been designed to ensure rigorous learning but also to help teachers make all learning exciting, active and meaningful for children. With every IPC unit there is a distinct learning process, providing a structured approach to make sure that children’s learning experiences are as stimulating as possible.

Our Year 2 children were encouraged to explore lots of different forms of transport as the entry point to their new topic, 'From A to B'. They played on the bus, Mr Ian’s car, a Sampan, a Xichlo, a motorbike and bicycles. The boys particularly enjoyed sitting in the driver’s seat of the bus and car. They changed gear, turned the lights on and off and blew the horn very loudly! Some children preferred to be chauffeured around and relaxed on the Xichlo.

This sort of physical activity allows our children to become fully engaged in their topic from the outset, and stimulates more questions from the children as the topic develops.
