It is my pleasure to share this week's update with you, outlining all of the events that have taken place across our campus.
This week, I have spoken to all of our children across Mileposts 1, 2 and 3 about how they can be Outstanding Learners, with this half term's focus being specifically linked to 'Enquiry'. Using our Outstanding Learning statements (that help our children to understand how to attain the attributes that are within our Aide Memoire), our children have been challenged to develop their abilities by being:
- a brave talker
- asking relevant questions and talking confidently about new ideas
- able to choose how to research new ideas
- willing to try new things
Ask your children how they have enquired this week and check the back of their diary - they may have received a sticker for being an outstanding enquirer!
F1 and F2 settling
Our youngest children in school have been settling well and learning what it is like to play, explore and learn together in a new class, with a new teacher and with new friends. Please click here to read more about their settling and to view some pictures of what they have been doing.
New Swipe Cards
I would like to inform you that from Tuesday 8th September, you may collect 2 new, updated swipe cards for each of your children (this excludes all new parents who started school this academic year). The purpose of this change in swipe card is to ensure that a more up to date photograph of your child is visible to our security on entrance to and exit from the campus. Swipe cards will be replaced on a 2 year cycle.
Details on the roll out programme is as follows:
Tuesday 8th September – Friday 11th September
New swipe cards can be obtained from collection points as you enter through Gate A.
Collection times: 7.30am – 8.15am each morning / 2.00pm – 2.30pm each afternoon
Outside of these dates/times, new swipe cards can be collected from the Main Office.
All old cards should be returned when the new ones are collected.
All non-parents (maids, drivers etc) who wish to collect cards on your behalf, must show the old swipe card before new cards are issued.
All old cards will be deactivated on Monday 21st September.

Meet the Teacher Evenings
It was very pleasing to have over 500 parents in attendance for our Meet the Teacher evenings this week - MP2 and MP3 on Tuesday and MPF and MP1 on Thursday. This year, the format was refined to try and ensure that you have an opportunity to meet with both class and specialist teachers and then meet directly with your child's class teacher to understand more about the expectations, curriculum areas, daily routines and what you can do to help enhance your child's learning at home, in partnership with school. Thank you to all parents that attended.
As mentioned during both presentations, the pastoral element to your child's education at BIS is very important to developing the whole child. Please take time to look through these two links that give more informtion about our PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education) focus this half term and also our Golden Time programme that reinforces positive behaviour though our Golden Rules.
Parents' Evening - Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th September (3.00pm to 5.30pm)
Just a gentle reminder that sign up will take place from 9.00am on Sunday 6th September until 12.00pm on Monday 14th September. As mentioned in last week's letter, the aim of this meeting is to discuss how your child has settled into their new class and discuss with you any relevant information regarding your child in order to optimise their learning for the academic year ahead.
