School Fete (Tu Xuong Family day)

On Saturday 5th March, 9:00am to 1:00pm the TX Parent Group are hosting a family day for all families, adults and children, at Tu Xuong.

The fun filled day will include many exciting activities and games for all to take part in.  There will be face painting, arts and crafts, games and plenty more!  A pot luck buffet will also be available in the canteen, provided by the parents.  A survey was sent home on Wednesday this week asking for parental support for the event.

We need parents help to provide food on the day and/or help to run the activities and stalls.  Please send these surveys back to the class reps, identifying how you can help, by Monday 1st February.  Thank you in advance for your help and support to make this valuable and exciting day a HUGE success.

Lunch at La Crêperie

Eighteen parents took part in the lunch group last Tuesday at La Crêperie, a French restaurant specialising in "crêpes" and "galette", which are typical dishes from the Brittany region in France.  For more information regarding "la Bretagne" please follow the link, www.brittanytourism.com.  The cider ;) was really much enjoyed and a discovery for some of us.  The set menu gave the opportunity to taste the original recipe of galette with ham, cheese and egg.  We were also invited to watch how the French dishes were prepared and cooked.  Time flew, talking and catching up on various subjects.

As many parents requested, I’m sharing the recipe for the "galette" here, and also a video showing how to make it.  Enjoy! cuisine.journaldesfemmes.com/recette/305871-galettes-de-sarrasin

My recipe is a bit different as the one in the video but as it is "child approved" at home, that’s the one I use ;). If you try it at home, please send us pictures at tx.ptg.bis@gmail.com. For the filling, you can be creative. My favourite filling is fresh cream, spring onion and smoked salmon!

Bon appétit.

For 12 pancakes.

  • 150 grams of buckwheat flour,

  • 100 grams of wheat flour,

  • 40 grams of molten slightly salted butter

  • 50 cl of water

  • 2 eggs (beaten)

  • 2 soup spoons of oil

  • a pinch of salt

Mix in a salad bowl, the two types of flour with the salt and the eggs beaten beforehand.  Dilute with the water then add the molten butter.  Let the dough rest for one hour.  Grease a frying pan, add a ladle of dough, as soon as the edges come loose turn the pancake, add the filling, eggs, ham, cheese for a traditional version, or be creative and add whatever you like.  Fold up edges once all ingredients are cooked and serve immediately.
