We were feeling confident and excited to show off our newly acquired skills and to show the results of our hard work. Our training sessions got more and more frequent the closer we got to the tournament. It got to the point where we had about 5 sessions during the week of the tournament.
The tournament took place in ISHCMC. Having taken our matches with TIS, ISHCMC and SSIS to the 3rd set each game, we all felt proud, but extremely fatigued. Unfortunately, we ultimately lost all of the matches during the last set. That meant that we would go on to play TIS in the finals. We believe that the pressure of the finals and the lack of energy from a long day of volleyball games. Nonetheless, spirits were kept high all day long and we had great fun playing.
In addition to this, one of our members was injured in the game against TIS. On a positive note, we played so much better than last year, as we were able to incorporate new offensive plays and attacks, including spikes, tips, and some powerful serves. We also portrayed better defense skills, as our ability to return and dig had largely improved, and we even had a couple of effective blocks. On top of this, we managed to get an unplanned dummy play in, which won us a point, a highlight of the day.
The tournament was amazing and a great experience for the team. We wish next year’s team the best of luck for the season and hope to see them improve even further in addition to what we have achieved so far.
