Another busy week at TX for parents

From the first international coffee morning to prepare for the upcoming international week to nappy cake making, through to planning a parent lunch and visits to our community partners, parents at TX always have a good reason to be involved in the school life.  This week proved it again.

Community partners visits after the book swap

Following on from the book swap, we are happy to announce the number of books that the selected community partners will receive;

  • PDV: 110 books

  • Mai Am shelter which houses young boys: 129 books

  • Anh Minh school for the hearing impaired: 85 books

  • Bin Trieu school for disadvantaged children: 151 books

We would like to thank Ms Alicia and Ms Clover who counted the books and sorted them so we could deliver appropriate books for our partners.  The first delivery will be made by Y6 students as they have a visit to PDV on Wednesday 12th October. If you are a Y6 parent, you are most welcome to join the visit.

An online sign-up sheet is available here for all visits;

Please consider signing up, it’s always a nice moment to share.

The date for the other visits will be announced soon.  They will be in the mornings and we’ll be back before 11.30am, except for Thien Phuoc visit as the volunteers will also help during lunch time.

International Week Coffee Morning

The multi-purpose room was buzzing last Wednesday during the first coffee morning in order to prepare for the up-coming international week. Mr James introduced the changes regarding this year:

  • The flag parade with children and parent performances will be held on the first day of the International Week celebration, Monday 14th November, and will kick off the celebration.

  • All country’s display boards must be installed before Monday 14th November.  You will be able to begin displaying items on your country’s board on the afternoon of Thursday 10th November and through to the end of the day on Friday.

Wednesday 16th November will see the craft activities, sports games and the famous and hugely anticipated international buffet!

Everyone gathered by country to start working on the project.

If you are “alone”, a group named “single countries” was formed this year; you can still join in! The group will work together for the crafts, activities and the games and will also help to serve the food. Please contact Eva if you would like to join.

If you could not come to the meeting, if you are working during the celebration but you want to share about your country, you can make a display in the foyer. To request a board, you need to contact Mr James (

International week will also see the first performance of the parents’ choir.  So if you like to sing, please sign up and join. The more, the merrier. The choir will have 3 rehearsals before the big day. The song is, “We are the world”

…a nappy cake

Also on Wednesday morning, 5T’s Mums had a special mission; making a nappy cake. It’s probably the fastest nappy cake ever made, because in less than 40 minutes, they were done. The nappy cake was to celebrate Eddie’s birth, the newborn of Ms Thanh and Mr Rob. 5T students were happy to give the nappy cake and a beautiful card to their teacher who returned from paternity leave this Friday. There is something about 5T, as last year, they also welcomed a new baby (Mr Mike’s daughter), let’s see if next academic year the story repeats for that class ;))

Parent Lunch

Next Wednesday, we can chill together with the parent lunch. This time we’ll explore the vegan food at Kay Vegan Bistro. Ms Kim made us 3 delicious special set menus to choose from. All information and the registration link is here:

Have a lovely weekend,
