The tournament hosted by BIS, began with our players going up against a very experienced ISHCMC team. The odds were stacked against us once again, and although we played thorough volleyball, the opposition team were able to grab the victory with the first set being 16-25 and the following 10-25.
The second game of the tournament was an important match between our BIS Boys and the favourites, SSIS. The opponents started with a strong first set winning 25-16 in their favour. However, we did not give up and through motivation and determination, dominated the second set 25-12. The SSIS Boys stayed concentrated and stormed through the last set 15-3.
The last match would determine whether we would play for the title or for 3rd place. TIS executed a perfect first set against us, picking us apart and winning 25-11. This gave us the incentive to display our best volleyball, and with renewed concentration we were able to take the second set 25-22. The third-set curse seemed to continue as we lost the last set by just two points, the final score being 14-16 to TIS.
Determined to come away from the tournament with a victory, the BIS Boys were focused on getting 3rd place. Our opponents, ISHCMC, were equally as motivated to get the victory. The first set was extremely close, but BIS managed to edge the lead taking the first set 25-22. ISHCMC came into the second set very agitated due to the first-set loss and BIS were able to pick apart the opposition. The second and final set finished 25-21 to BIS. We were able to declare our first victory and earn a well-deserved 3rd place.
Special thank you to Mr. Husband for believing in the BIS Boys Volleyball team and sharing his knowledge of the sport.
