Year 5 And Their Community Partners

24 November 2016

Year 5 have been working with Nguyen Hien School for 3 years now. The children from BIS HCMC  spend time visiting Nguyen Hien, and also welcome the Nguyen Hien students into An Phu Primary.

  • BIS Ho Chi Minh Year 5 Community project 2

The students in both schools work alongside each other to complete projects or work on problems. They learn to be creative in the way in which they communicate to overcome language barriers.

Over the last 3 weeks, Year 5 have participated in a variety of exchanges with Nguyen Hien School as part of the Community Project. We have hosted several Year 5 classes from Nguyen Hien. The children worked together to produce Mars habitats, developing creativity, team work and communication skills.

When visiting Nguyen Hien, the BIS HCMC students participated in a Maths lesson conducted in Vietnamese. The children soon realized that Maths is a universal language and could communicate through numbers and jottings. As always, these exchanges are extremely valuable for the children and provide them with opportunities to develop important communication skills, and make new friends within our community.
