Rainy season over, it was time for our Sports Days here at APP and the weather did not disappoint. (except for a few welcome raindrops during the year 5 girls 800 meters!).
It was riot of colour as students competed in year group sports days this week from Year 1 to Year 6. Representing their houses, they dug deep to achieve personal bests in the track and field events on offer. From 100 meter sprints to long jumps and javelin throws as well as many other events, each student was challenged to do their best and reach personal bests. There were fist pumps in the air and hugs at the finish line as children finished events or had a ribbon pinned to their shirt.
Parents captured every leap, every sprint, every throw and spin on film, all deservedly proud of every child regardless of 1st place or bringing up the rear.
Perhaps the best part was watching friends cheering on other friends and the loudest cheers being reserved for those that needed some extra ‘umph’ and encouragement to get across the finish line. Watching the Milepost 1 children run with Mr Richard to help him light the ‘flame’ was a big highlight also.
Every effort earned housepoints for their team meaning that children never gave up and also meant a nail biting finish for some of the events.
Huge congratulations to all the children that took part. Many thanks to the parents that came and supported the event and well done and thanks to the PE staff for putting together these wonderful experiences for our children and finally to our student helpers that assisted at each event.
And so to the results for our Milepost 2 and Milepost 3 – Drum Roll Please!
