Coding Club is a new student-led ECA that has been devised by Thuy-Linh Le and run by Thuy-Linh and Tuan Le, both in year 11.
As students of IGCSE Computer Science, they were keen to share their new learning with younger students while also challenging their own leadership skills and their ability to teach. Thuy-Linh and Tuan were also motivated to start this ECA in order to allow key stage three students the opportunity to experience this subject before making their IGCSE choices in year 9.
Coding Club has been a great success so far. Phan Ha Tran and Alden Ng, both in year 7, describe Coding Club as “awesome and enjoyable although a bit challenging.” Similarly, Hi Leung, in year 10 thinks this challenge “is great because we get to learn new things every time." Sirin Yvanovich, in year 9, sums up Coding Club and his own experiences with learning to code very wisely by explaining that these skills are “easy to learn; hard to master.”
