Mr Simon Higham – Weekly Update: 18/03/16

18 March 2016

Dear Parents

What an exciting week we have had this week at An Phu Primary Campus.

Firstly, I would like to welcome back  all of the pupils that took part in 3 successful residential trips - retuning from Long Hai, Hoi An and Guangzhou, China. Posts for both Y4 and Y5 residential trips can be found below and look out for a post on the FOBISIA maths tournament in next week's Update - as I write, the results are being finalised by the host school.

In addition, I would like to welcome in excess of 250 young musicians from across FOBISIA schools in South East Asia, who have travelled to AP1 in order to take part in the Primary Performing Arts Carnival (PPAC). I am sure they will have a great time, make new friends and showcase their musical abilities to all of the audiences that they perform to.

Parent Satisfaction Survey 2016

Thank you to those parents who have already completed the survey that was sent to all parents on Tuesday 8th March.  To-date we have had an impressive 34% response rate.  We are very keen to gather feedback from all of our parents as it will make a real difference to how we run the school and plan for the future.  The online survey only takes 15 minutes and your responses are anonymous as we value your honest opinion.  Please note that the closing deadline for this survey is Monday, 21st March.  We look forward to your participation.

On Tuesday this week, 36 BIS swimmers took part in a swim meet against EIS with the focus upon competition, practice and friendly rivalry. Read more about this event and view the pictures of our swimmers in action by accessing the post by Mr Triet, Assistant Swimming Coach.

Year 5 Trip to Hoi An

Following on from their Year 4 experiences last year in Long Hai, our Year 5 children visited Hoi An on their residential experience for 3 nights and 4 days. On Friday, the children returned tired but exhilarated from their experiences. Read more about this fantastic experience in the post by Deborah Spencer, Year 5 teacher and Assistant Milepost Leader.

An Exciting Recycling Project Comes to AP1

In an attempt to try and help all parents who have spare uniform at home, AP1 is working together with a group of parents to promote the idea of recycling and sustainability across our community. If you would like to donate your child's old uniform so that it can be made into new and exciting products please read the post by Dee Grimshaw, Deputy Headteacher, on behalf of our parent volunteers. The more donations of uniforms that we receive, the more products can be made. Ask your children about this project as F3 to Y6 were introduced to it in today's assembly.

Science and Technology Day 2016

In assembly today, our Student Council launched their newest and most ambitious initiative - Science and Technology Day. Taking place on Thursday 7th April, all children will be invited to come to school dressed as a scientist or even a famous inventor or invention! The day will begin with a scientific demonstration on the AP1 field and throughout the day, all children will experience different experiments and activities to further promote the subjects of Science and Technology. More details to come!

I would like to wish you all a peaceful and family orientated weekend.
