On the Tu Xuong BIS Hub this week:
Welcoming a New Team of Inspectors
At BIS, we proudly say that the school has been, ‘Inspected, approved and rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the British Government’. This statement is based upon the fact that three years ago, a team of inspectors observed lessons, scrutinised assessment data, interviewed teachers, parents and students, and then concluded that the school deserved the highest rating possible. On Monday, we will be welcoming a new team of inspectors to the Tu Xuong campus. Colin Dyson, Jayne Bennion and Berni Babkirk will be with us until Wednesday. I am confident that when they talk to the children about their learning and see the amazing work our teaching teams are doing, they will be reaching the same conclusion as their counterparts three years ago.
Congratulations to our Mathematicians
Last week, Mr Rob told us about the fantastic time the children had at the FOBISIA Primary Maths Competition. This week we discovered exactly how well the children did! Congratulations to the whole team; out of 29 teams, from many much larger schools, they came an incredible fifth! There were also some wonderful individual performances; Shao Fu came 6th and Andrew was just behind in 8th place. Congratulations – you really did TX proud!
FOBISIA Primary Performing Arts Carnival 2016
Being a part of FOBISIA provides the school with various opportunities. Following on from the success of our mathematicians, it was the turn of the musicians to join together with 16 schools from around South-East Asia to take part in a weekend of workshops and other activities in the FOBISIA Primary Performing Arts Carnival. The grand finale of the weekend came on Sunday afternoon at the breath-taking Gala Concert with performances from the choir and the orchestra. Let me take this opportunity to thank Mr Jon, and Ms Beth and Ms Fran from AP1 for all their hard work in making this event such a success, and reaffirming status of BIS, Ho Chi Minh City as one of the leading schools in the region. You can read more in this post from Mr Jon:
We have a number of events coming up this week, so I hope many of you will be able to support these events.
Nutrition Coffee Morning – Is your child eating healthily?
To help us find the answer to this question, Nurse Sharyn has organised for Dr Thao, from International SOS, to come and deliver a talk for parents on this subject on Wednesday 30th March at 8.00am in the Multi-purpose Room. There is so much evidence linking a healthy diet with children being successful at school; I hope you can join us.
Parent Group Lunch
It has been wonderful to see our parent community grow this year and on Wednesday there is another opportunity to get together for lunch. The venue is The Long @ Times Square with the dress code being Ao Dai. To sign up, you can click on the link:

AP1 Spring Fair
In the UK, Spring is a wonderful time of the year. After the cold winter months, the days become longer and warmth is in the air; it is a time to celebrate. To continue this tradition, the parent group at AP1 have organised a Spring Fair with many activities, games for the children and a super raffle. Tickets are available on the gate.
CHQ Club Sign-Up
On Monday 28th March sign-up for our term 3 clubs will open at 4:00pm. Term 3 clubs are selected through our CHQ website and allocation of clubs is selected randomly by the CHQ system. Parents will need their child's username and password to log in and sign up for the clubs. Ms Emma will be hosting drop in sessions on Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st March in the foyer from 8:00-9:00am for any parents who would like support in accessing and using the CHQ website. Today all parents will receive a soft copy of the Term 3 CHQ/Club booklet via email. Our Vietnamese parents will also receive a Vietnamese version of the booklet via a CHQ email. Thank you.
Congratulations to Thy, Duc Anh, Quoc Huy, Alvin, Bao Van and Roy from MP2 this week for being in the Golden Book for super behaviour and healthy choices as lunchtimes. Ms Mary and I really enjoyed your company today, thank you for joining us at the finer diner table!
Watches, umbrellas, computer games, recorders, glasses - Ms Emma has quite a collection under her desk. They have been there for some time, so please come and check to see if any of these items are yours. Anything left over at the end of this term (April 8th) will be donated to our community partners.
We have twice as much to celebrate this week. Happy Holi to all our Indian families – we look forward to seeing the photos of colourful events happening this weekend. May I also take this time to wish everyone a peaceful and Happy Easter!
