The BIS U19 boys football team went to the city championships at SSIS in high hopes of retaining their trophy.
Unfortunately BIS drew the short straw and were the only team to play all of their four games back to back and without rest.
The BIS boys started excellently in their first game against ISHCMC, matching their effort and ability in the first half to go in goalless at half time. Despite the Kazzi brothers hard work in midfield, ISHCMC ground out the victory in a tight second half to win the game 1-0.
It was a different story in the second game though, with BIS enjoying most of the possession and creating better chances than their opposition. These chances counted in the second period, with Sid scoring two goals in quick succession to record a 2-0 victory.
BIS dominated the third game, but the heat of the afternoon and lack of rest played a factor in BIS failing to get the ball in the back of ABC's net. A 0-0 draw was a disappointment after that hard work the team put in, with Tom having an especially good game when joining the attach from defence.
The last game was against the eventual champions SSIS. BIS accounted themselves fantastically in the first half and could have gone in at half time in the lead with a little more luck and composure in front of goal.Tiredness and a lapse of concentration allowed SSIS to score two quick goals and distinguish our hopes of winning the tournament. The boys battled on though, with Ryan shining in midfield and Tony attacking well.
BIS had to make do with a third place finish, which is a great achievement after two hours of none stop hard work on the football pitch. Well done to everyone who contributed to the tournaments success!
