The Eco-teams are Watching You!
The eco-team, along with members of the drama club, put together a video which we watched in assembly this morning. At BIS we are looking to create Global Citizens, and one element of that is being responsible for our planet; we were reminded of some of the things we can do to make a difference:
1) Save water – e.g. turn off dripping taps and take showers instead of baths.
2) Save paper – e.g. use both sides of a sheet of paper
3) Save electricity – e.g. turn lights/ the AC off when we leave a room.
Thanks to Ms Heather and the eco-team for this video. You can watch it again here:
Elsewhere there has been a lot going on in school this week. Here are some of the highlights:
Ho Chi Minh City Cross Country Championships
32 children from the Tu Xuong Campus took part in the Ho Chi Minh City Cross Country Championships. The children showed great perseverance to complete the course and did very well when competing against much larger schools.
For more photos and information about the results, please see Mr Ali’s post:
TX Year 4 Explorers and Adventurers Exit Point
Having been learning about adventurers and explorers in Year 4, on Wednesday, the children set out on their own quest in search of treasure…well ice-cream! 5 groups went to different parts of District 1 and had to navigate their way to their destination, avoiding certain roads and collecting photos along the way. You can read more about how the children got on by following the link:
TX EYFS trip to the Zoo
The children in F3 went on an adventure of their own at the same time as the children in Year 4, except they went to find all sorts of different animals at Saigon Zoo. One favourite was the wolf; the children delighted in asking him what the time was. Unfortunately, he didn’t want to play and went to sleep in his cave. Nevertheless, the children had a great time and came back exhausted. There are more photos and details in Ms Hayley’s post:
First ARC Visit to TX EYFS
There has been a strong animal theme running through EYFS this week. F1 have been following their interest in ‘Farms’ with many animal noises being heard. All the classes in EYFS also received a visit from the volunteers at Animal Rescue and Care (ARC). This is the first of a series of visits from the people at ARC and we look forward to seeing this community project develop over the next few weeks. To read more, please follow the link:
The Tu Xuong School Fete
As you will be well aware, the school fete (family day) is tomorrow. I look forward to seeing many of you there for what I am sure will prove to be a very successful event. In my eyes, it is already a great success as I have seen many members of the Tu Xuong parent community working so hard with such a positive outlook. Thank you in advance for all your hard work.
Finally, and I don't want to worry anybody here, but there have been some strange sightings at TX this week. Please make sure that you always have a friend with you when you are at TX and that you report anything strange that you might see...there have been some Spooky Goings On at TX!
See you tomorrow,
Ian Battersby / Head of Tu Xuong Campus
