TX PE News - Update 04/03/16

04 March 2016

U11 Football

The past 3 weeks have seen the start of under 11 football fixtures. Both the boys and girls have been in action and have enjoyed and competed hard in games against AP1, EIS and AIS. The boys have lost two games to the much larger schools of AP1 and AIS, but came away with a well earned victory against EIS.

The girls did not play AIS due to them not having a girls team. They are however unbeaten in the two games they have played, drawing against AP1 and beating EIS.

Next up for our teams are games against TAS and ISSP next week.

 Cross Country

On Tuesday this week 32 students from TX travelled to Phu My Hung Golf course in district 7, to compete in the city cross country championship. The U9 age group (year 3 & 4) had to run a 1km circuit whilst U11 (year 5 & 6) ran a 2km circuit.

All students tried very hard and all completed the race on a hot day. In a field of 80-100 runners in each age and gender category some of the stand out performances are below;

U9 Girls

Boa Van Phan - 18th

Mathilde Salapete - 24th

Naomi Tran - 33rd

U9 Boys

Subin Le -26th

Ye Jun Ji - 29th

PO Salapete - 33rd

Amiri Nemoto - 27th

Sophia Dinh - 29th

U11 Boys

The overall positions for each team were also very respectable considering the size of the schools we compete against. Each age group had around 11-12 schools competing.

U9 Boys - 8th

U9 Girls - 6th

U11 Boys - 7th

U11 Girls - 5th
