Our student's ingenuity and creativity have been tested and ultimately showcased in many ways this week. The preparations for next week's show has also provided a wonderful backdrop to our campus life. I begin my update with the arrival of students and staff from AP1 and TX which added great excitement to Thursday as we reached the culmination of the...
Rube Goldberg Machine Contest
The Rube Goldberg project has been a huge undertaking for students and teachers. A joint effort between AP1, AP2 and TX campus culminated in a long hot day on Thursday this week putting the many sections of our marvellous machine together. BIS students of all ages were able to bring their creativity together in building a truly stunning machine that delighted all as it moved from stage to stage.
The competition has been run between Nord Anglia schools with prizes available in 10 categories including most students engaged, most technical, most amusing.
Rube Goldberg contests are designed to encourage teamwork and out-of-the-box problem solving for students of all ages. They encourage approaches from the fields of science, technology, engineering, art & design, and mathematics, the STEAM disciplines. Rube Goldberg Machines tackle the most mundane tasks and ask participants to create their own overly elaborate and hilariously conceived wacky contraptions in honor of the competition’s founding father.
More photos and the final video of our Rube Goldberg machine will be available on the BIS Hub later in the week. We look forward to the results from this hotly contested event!
Sleep Awareness Assembly
A wonderful Sleep Awareness assembly was held this week and run by our IB students who promoted sleep and it’s benefits to the school.
We were also entertained by two very moving pieces by the Chamber Choir, expertly conducted by Mr Ian Alexander, Water of Tyne - and Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
Still on the theme of Sleep Awareness a Flashmob appeared in the Bistro at lunchtime on Wednesday to once again remind us how important sleep is.
It’s always rewarding, both for our students and for our Community Service partners, when we are able to share our facilities and expertise. The BIS Growing Minds Club has been linking with children from the Binh Tho School and allowing them to learn new skills in a range of areas, while providing BIS students an opportunity to build their leadership skills. A win all round!
AP2 Annual Drama Show
The Thursday night performance is sold out but tickets are still left for the shows taking place on Tuesday 5th and Wednesday 6th at 7pm. Tickets cost VND40,000 each and are available from the AP2 reception. A show not to be missed.
HCMC Gymnastics Competition
We were delighted to host the HCMC Gymnastics Competition recently in which over 90 students from various schools competed.
U19 Boys SISAC Champs Competition
Really tough competition and a draw which saw our U19 boys team playing four games in succession, with no rest time in between, led to a very tired squad. BIS U19 Boys will be back to reclaim their trophy next year!
U19 Girls SISAC Champs Competition
A well deserved second place for our U19 girls team in the recent SISA Champs
Victory at the Cricket
A well deserved victory for the BIS Cricket Team against ABC, read the full write up on the match by Raafay Qamar from 8V. We look forward to the next match against a visiting team from Vung Tau.
As we head into the last week before the holidays I wish you and your family a restful weekend.
