Year 6 Community Project: Reflection

27 April 2016

Year 6 students had a busy time last term taking part in their Community project, this is a little of what they got up to...

Their project involved a lesson exchange with our local Vietnamese Primary School, Huynh Van Ngoi School. Each BIS class visited the school and learnt about Vietnamese culture, war & peace. They worked in groups to discuss different topics and took part in a quiz at the end of the lesson to see how much they learnt!

Each Year 6 class also welcomed the Huynh Van Ngoi students that they had met during their first visit. Students worked in groups to make a stop motion video with a Science theme – something new for Hunyh Van Ngoi students!

Learning Objectives of the project:

To allow students and teachers to broaden their understanding of how schools operate in another culture; either within Vietnamese system or equally the British system

Inspiring and developing English language levels in HVN students

Developing positive characteristics for BIS students through Vietnamese culture lessons

To connect students within the locality

To develop communication and confidence in both students

Reflection of the project

Well done Year 6!
