MP2 Speech Competition

08 April 2016

It was Thursday 7th April and anticipation hung in the air as the Milepost 2 Speech Competition was about to begin. Ten brave finalists from Year 3 and Year 4 had prepared inspirational speeches entitled ‘My Ambition’. As the first finalist approached, a hush settled and we were ready to begin.

Many weeks of preparation had gone into drafting, writing, editing and practising these magnificent speeches. The children in Milepost 2 had been set homework to compose a winning speech and they had all risen to the challenge. The speech had to be 2-5 minutes long and should explain how they would accomplish their ambition, who inspired them and why they wanted to achieve it. After careful deliberation, the finalists were selected: Quynh Anh, Toshi, Thy, An, Kathy (Year 3) and Minh Kha, Tadala, Dishan, Mei and Iris (Year 4).

Mr Ian, Ms Mary and Ms Jane (the esteemed judges) had a very hard decision on their hands. All of the finalists did an outstanding job and the audience were spellbound listening to their inspirational words. Finally, Iris was named this year’s winner after an exceptional speech about her ambition to become an anchor woman. Congratulations to Iris and all of the finalists.
