PTG - We Need Your Help

As we approach the end of the school year, we start planning for the next academic year. We are looking for parents to volunteer on different event committees for the 2016-2017 school year.

The events run by parents for the BIS students adds to the social fabric of the school. Please consider signing up to any of the committees that BIS AP1 is going to need to run all the events. Remember, if an event does not have a committee to organise or volunteers to help, it may not run.

This signup list is just to create a steering committee.  Once the event is approaching, we will recruit more volunteers to help run it. The committee will be in charge of coordinating the event.  The school will help with the logistics and the funds needed to run each event. Please use this link below to sign up.

Thank you in advance for your valuable support. Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have any questions via this email :

we need you

Up cycled Uniforms Project - Please donate your child(ren)'s uniform!

The Upcycled Uniforms Project is an initiative to make usable and school-friendly products from donated BIS uniforms. This initiative hopes to make the idea of 'reuse' more tangible and achievable for our children. We are very happy to see many children storing their shoes, PE kit and clothes in the bags purchased from our Pop Up Shop.

The next Pop Up Shops will be held on Thursday 26 May and Thursday 16 June. We will be open from 7.30-8.30am and 2-3pm.

We are working on new product lines and they will be introduced at the next Pop Up Shop. In order for us to continue producing these upcylced products, we require LOTS of uniform donations. Please drop your clean uniforms (no hats or swimwear) into the grey donation box near the office (under the PTG board).

Schedule of School Fees 2016 - 2017

The Schedule of Fees for the Academic Year 2016 – 2017 has now been published. A copy can be viewed and downloaded from the school web site by following this link:

You will note that compared to last year there has been an average increase in the school Tuition Fees of 4.5%, which is the lowest average fee increase for the school in eight years.

We have kept the fee increase to the minimum that will allow us to maintain the same high quality of educational provision in a growing school. We remain convinced that we represent good value for money and are comparable with similar schools in Vietnam and elsewhere in the region.

Parental Satisfaction Survey

Thank you to all parents who completed the NAE Parental Satisfaction Survey for 2016. Parental feedback is a vital element of school improvement and I would encourage all parents to come and talk with us on a regular basis in order to make our school and the learning within it, be the very best that it can be. For more information about the results of this survey, please access the post written by Mr Tim Deyes, BIS Principal.

The Desford Colliery Band Are Visiting Vietnam (and BIS)

Desford Colliery Brass Band

We have been lucky enough to secure a visit from them on Wednesday 1 June, performing over the morning for all of our children at An Phu Primary. The band will also be performing for the secondary school students in the afternoon.

The Desford Colliery Band have previously toured successfully in Singapore, Jakarta and Bangkok playing for the students at major international schools such as Tanglin, Shrewsbury and BIS Jakarta among others. It is a fantastic opportunity for our students here in BIS who do not get to hear top class live music very often to develop their skills and awareness of music.

The British Brass Band is an iconic musical British musical group, producing a powerful sound with its mixture of spine-tingling fortissimos, breath-taking pianissimos and star turns from many of the best brass soloists you are likely to hear. All of the musicians are professional players.  For more information about the group please see

The band will also be doing a public performance at the Conservatory of Music in District 1. Tickets are available for 200,000 VND from AP2 BIS Reception or

Hot Weather

The weather has been exceptionally hot and humid recently, so can I remind you to send your child to school with their hat and water bottle; staff will be encouraging the children to drink plenty of water.  If you know your child likes to play outside, please apply sun-cream before sending them to school. Our Milepost 1 afternoon playtimes have been relocated to optimise shady play during the hottest period of the day.

Stay safe in the sun!

I wish you all, a very pleasant weekend ahead and look forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
