Scientists in Year 5 visit AP2

19 May 2016

This week Year 5 were given the opportunity to visit the science labs at AP2.

They participated in a variety of activities related to our ‘Gases Around Us’ topic. The children learnt different tests for hydrogen, oxygen and carbon dioxide gases. They then had a mystery gas and, using the tests, found out what this actually was.

After this they then watched and participated in a dissection of the lungs and heart in preparation for our next IPC topic, ‘Fit for Life’. The children were surprised by what they saw and, although some were a little squeamish to begin with, all enjoyed the experience.

Year 5 would like to say a huge thank you to Ms Jackson and Mr Lambert for organising this and the AP2 science teachers.
