Welcome to the 'Friendly Games'
It is unusual for me to write the ‘Weekly Update’ on a Thursday, but this week it is a necessity as by the time you read this message, the first day of the FOBISIA Primary Games will be coming to a close. The ‘friendly games’ provide children from across the region the opportunity to participate in athletics, swimming, tee-ball and football competitions. Look out next week for a full report in next week’s weekly update.
Year 5 Children Visit the Vietnam Waste Solutions Facility
Being a global citizen means that we have to be concerned about our planet and how we can look after it. As part of their IPC topic on sustainability, the children in Year 5 went to visit the Vietnam Waste Solutions Facility, to find out what happens to the rubbish when it leaves our homes. They had a wonderful visit; to find out more please click on the link below:
Year 6 Transition Day
There were a few nerves on Wednesday morning as the children (including my own daughter) made their way into the auditorium at the An Phu Secondary Campus. The nerves didn’t last long as the children took part in sample science, drama and music lessons, and that was just the morning. Please click on the link to discover more about the day:

Headteacher’s Coffee Morning
Thank you to our Vietnamese parents who organised a wonderful coffee morning on Tuesday. You can see more on the Parents’ Corner post this week. The third coffee morning this term is on Wednesday 25th May at 8.00am in the Multi-Purpose Room. To begin with, I will be presenting some of the results from the parent questionnaire that went out earlier this term. After that there will be an opportunity to ask questions or suggest ideas about how the school could be improved further. I hope to see you there.
Desford Colliery Brass Band
The world renowned Desford Colliery Brass Band will be performing for the MP2 and 3 children at AP2 on June 1st. They will also be performing live in Ho Chi Minh on Thursday June 2nd at 8pm in the Conservatory of Music. The concert will feature a range of music showcasing the wonderful sounds of the brass band. Tu Xuong Parent Corner
What a fabulous morning we had on Tuesday this week when our Vietnamese parents planned and prepared a special Vietnamese culture and coffee morning. We learned many interesting things about Vietnam including how to cook the famous Vietnamese banana cake and some important 'dos and dont's' here in Vietnam. You will find more details at the Parent Corner this week, along with many other interesting items. Please click the link to read on.
Let me wish those children from TX competing in the FOBISIA Primary Games this weekend every success.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
