What an amazing week it has been at An Phu Primary, with an art exhibition, open classrooms, a summer concert and a Milepost 3 prize giving. This is in addition to all of the great learning that has been taking place across every classroom too. A busy week indeed!
Jelly on a Plate: AP1 Art Exhibition
The week began with a celebration of all things art in the AP1 exhibition entitled 'Jelly on a Plate'. Throughout the day on Monday, all classes took time to visit the exhibition and had fun engaging in some artistic activities. In addition to this, it has been lovely to see so many parents engaging with their child's 2D and 3D art work and celebrating their creative efforts. Read more about this event and look through the many pictures that showcase the children's work by accessing this post by Ms Charlie Gorringe, Art Intern / Art, DT and Display Coordinator.
Thank you to all parents who visited their child's classroom on Tuesday morning in our 'Open Classrooms' event. The purpose of this was to allow our children to take the lead in their own learning and guide the adults through their very special learning this year. Take time to read through just some of the feedback from Ms Nicole's Year 1 class:
Xin Yu - it was very fun when our parents came to school
AJin - We are so glad because our mum came in our class
Marivi - Mum got to see all our work we did, mum was proud of me and she wrote me a certificate.
Khanh - I loved it because my dad came, it was funny when he looked at my work and when he was sitting in the tiny chair.
EYFS Summer Concert
Our very youngest children took us on a journey 'Under the Sea' on Wednesday morning with a superb Summer Concert that thrilled an appreciative audience. The songs included stories about dolphins, jellyfish, crabs and much, much more. There was even a visit from some pirates - arrr!
Read more about this event in the post by Ms Sarah Curran, F2 Teacher and Assistant Headteacher (EYFS).
For the very first time at An Phu Primary, all children throughout Milepost 3 were considered for individual prizes based upon academic achievement, effort, progress, commitment to our Aide Memoire and mission statement and for excellence across different specialist subject areas.
In an emotional setting celebrating success, joined by the parents of the those children who had won a prize, all of Milepost 3 came together to support and congratulate each other for a great year of hard work and super effort.
Read more about the winners of these awards by accessing this blog post.
Year 5 and Year 9 Learning Together
Year 5 and Year 9 students have been learning together to widen their knowledge and understanding of all things scientific. Read more about their journey over the bridge in this post by Ms Deborah Spencer, Year 5 Teacher and Assistant Milepost Leader.
Term 3 Disco
In excess of 250 children attended this year's final PTG disco, dancing to the latest tunes, playing fun games and in general, having a great time with their friends.
Thank you to all of the members of the PTG Disco committee who worked tirelessly to organise and run this successful event. We are all looking forward to putting on our disco shoes again in Term 1 - see you there!
What's Been Happening in our School Library?
The school library is always a hub of learning from the beginning of the day to the end. It is a place where both children and parents love to visit. Find out who have been our champion borrowers this year by viewing the post by Mr Andy and Ms Nga, Assistant Librarian and Teaching Assistant for the Library.

Uniform Collection: 2016-17 Academic Year
Please be informed that the BIS uniform shop will be open for the next academic year 2016 – 2017 from 10th August 2016 to 23rd August 2016 (8.00 AM – 4.00 PM). The detailed schedule is as below:
Current students - collect all new uniforms from your child's new classroom.
New students - collect all new uniforms from the Multi Purpose Room (Rm 227, 2nd floor above the Canteen)
Throughout the uniform collection period, there will be designated collection areas for you to bring and recycle your old uniforms. These will be situated outside of the canteen and all old uniform will be used to help stock our Up Cycling uniform project, that was advertised on the HUB back in March - this post can be accessed by clicking here.
This is a great way to help your children to understand the importance of recycling and sustainability of global resources.
Please help us to keep this innovative project moving forward by donating your own school uniforms when you come to pick up the new one. We can only do this, with your support.
I wish you all a very enjoyable weekend.
