Wishing Everyone a Very Happy Holiday
The end of the school year is always bitter-sweet. As I look back over the course of the year, there are so many fabulous events and wonderful memories that have been made; Moon Festival, Brilliant Books, International Week, the Winter Concert, to name but a few. It has been my privilege to see the children learning and making such marvellous progress. I have been able to share the excitement as children have told me all about their terrific adventures on trips to Long Hai, Hoi An and Gopeng. Sweet indeed!
All year we have been celebrating the children who have shown particular skill in each of the characteristics in our 'aide memoire'. Today in assembly we were able to celebrate children who have shown strength in 'Learning Together and Perseverance'. At TX, we want children to be faced with challenges and feel that they are stuck. We don't leave them there though. The children develop strategies to get themselves 'unstuck' and through collaboration with others, solve the problems and complete the tasks they have been set. Well done to all our masters of learning.
Today's assembly was also a bitter one, as we have to say ‘goodbye’ to members of our school community. Some of our families are being relocated to other countries, others are returning home, and of course our awesome Year 6 children will be taking the next step on their educational journey, and moving over to our secondary campus. We want to wish everyone who is leaving, for whatever reason, every success for the future.
Some of our Year 6 children have put down their thoughts as they come to the end of their time at TX:
"An Excellent School"
Back in March the school was inspected by a team of professionals looking to see just how good BIS, Ho Chi Minh City is. If you recall 3 years ago, the inspection report declared BIS as an excellent school. This is the highest rating a school can get. I am very pleased to announce that the inspectors this time have come to the same conclusion. BIS is an excellent. More of the details can be found in this post by Mr Tim:
In music, the children can take exams organised by ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and this week some TX children have been heading over to An Phu Secondary to do just that. The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) is a drama school based in the UK that organises similar exams for performance and drama. I am sure our children will have done us proud. Here is Amiri’s account of the day:
F2 Trip to Playtime
Visiting new places and taking part in new activities is a big part of developing independence. The children in F2 went to 'Playtime' on Monday and a wonderful time doing just that. See the post below for more details and photos:
I have said many times how great it has been to see our parent community grow this year. Thank you to all the class reps for their hard work and support, and thanks also to Anne Salapete who has written our Parents’ Corner all year. Working together makes such a difference to the children at TX. In this week’s post, there are reflections on the year past and a view to the future. If you would like to become more involved, or maybe a class rep, please let me know and I will pass your details on.
Worldwide Summer Learning Opportunities
There have been many advantages to becoming part of the Nord Anglia family of schools. One is the fantastic opportunities that are available to our children over the summer. Children can participate in a number of programmes located in different parts of the world. If you have not planned all your child’s summer activities, why not have a look at the post below, and see which events and activities your child could benefit from:
Thinking Ahead to Next Year
For those of you who will be returning to Tu Xuong next year, these are the details about when you will be able to pick up your child’s new uniform up from Ms Dat:
Date: Monday – Friday (from 8/8/2016)
Time: 8.00 am - 11.30am and 12.30pm - 4.00pm
Venue: Uniform store room (G10)
International week 2017
International Week will be taking place from Monday 14th November. For those of you are returning to your home countries, your trips provide a great opportunity to bring back posters, information and resources that could be used for our International displays which are located in the foyer each year. Alternatively, if you are heading on holiday, maybe you could bring back some interesting artefacts which can be shared with the other children in your child’s class. After all, during July and August, we really are global citizens.
Thank you to the whole Tu Xuong community for make the academic year 2015-2016 so special. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone returning safely in August to begin the new school year.
