Mr Ian Battersby: Weekly Update 16/09/16

16 September 2016

Trung Thu Vui Ve! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!  One of the greatest pleasures of working in an international school is joining in with local festivals and traditions.  The Tu Xuong campus has been awash with colour this week, as on Thursday our EYFS children enjoyed a Moon Festival Fair and on Friday Years 1 to 6 celebrated in our Moon Festival Assembly.

The EYFS children began with a parade holding their lanterns high and then joined their mums and dads in creating items like playdough moon cake and lanterns, as well as playing traditional games in the playground.

As usual the task of judging the lantern competition for Years 1 to 6 proved very challenging for Mr Tim, our school principal, and Ms Mary. The standard of creativity and attention to detail was so high! This was evident after the lantern parade in assembly; with all the lanterns glowing so brightly, I am sure Chu Cuoi must have been able to see the way back to Earth. Congratulations to all the winners of the lantern competition.  Following other Vietnamese songs and dances, it was time to particularly thank all the teaching assistants and Ms Thanh for all their hard work in making this festive time so special.
