I swapped, you swapped, he swapped, we swapped…yes we did, actually TX students did! After a week collecting books and giving tokens in exchange, it was time for the important business.
It all began on Tuesday afternoon, when a team set up the stall in the lobby despite the terrible rain outside. They could see how TX students were getting excited about the exchange as they came along with their tokens ready. One more night of patience and the next day, 3 giants clouds, helped by Ms Alicia and a few Y6 children opened the stall.
It was nice to see the children advising each other on the different titles, we heard things like:
· “Oh this one is fantastic, you should take it” (from a Y5 student to a Y3 student)
· “No, I don’t want to read a princess book, I want a Star Wars book” (from a little girl)
· “Look at the nice pictures inside” (from a Y6 to an EYFS student)
We also witnessed children giving their tokens to their friends.
Parents also helped the children to make a decision. With such a wide selection, it was not so easy to pick one or 2 books. Choices had to be made.
On the first day, more than 165 books had found a new home. This also means that 165 other books will be donated to our partners. The final numbers will be announced next week.
We would like to thank the wonderful teams of volunteers who made it happen by giving time, sometimes even before going to work! We also extend our gratitude to APS (An Phu Secondary campus)students and Mr Ben Durrant. Last Friday, we received an email to tell us 120 additional books were waiting for us at APS!
Well the next big project is already on its way; INTERNATIONAL WEEK is coming! Ms Mary is inviting all parents for the first coffee morning in preparation for the international week on Wednesday 5th October, 8am in the Multipurpose room. Like last year, the "single" countries will be able to team up for the craft activities and games.
The next parent lunch is planned on Wednesday 12th October. Registration link and all details will be shared soon on the Whatsapp group.
Have a lovely weekend,
Anne on behalf of the parents group at Tu Xuong Campus
