U19 Volleyball v TIS (H)

30 September 2016

The Senior Volleyball season has begun in earnest as both our U19s Boys and Girls were in action this week against TIS!

  • U19 Volleyball v TIS (H)

The girls had been eagerly awaiting their first official game of the season. They have been working hard since last year to develop their skills and tactics and were ready to test them out. Their opponents, TIS, were an experienced side with a lot of ability.

The team made a confident start showing excellent composure under pressure, winning the first set 25-11. Moving into the second set the team worked hard to implement their new strategies and throughout the set became more controlled and cohesive, only narrowly losing the set to TIS.

The third set was incredibly tense but the girls showed amazing team work and determination, finally winning 15-11. The girls performed superbly and made their coach very proud. The progress they have shown since last season is huge and completely down to their commitment and desire to improve.

U19 Boys BIS 0 – 2 TIS

The first game of the Volleyball season was quickly upon us against a very professional TIS team. With only two training sessions under our belt, it was a baptism of fire against a very string TIS school who have been back and training for the previous eight weeks. The BIS team looked extremely good in the opening set, pushing TIS all the way in a tense and highly skilled game. TIS attacking superiority eventually shone through with a 25 -21 victory in the 1st game. In the second, the serving of the two teams was the difference, but the BIS boys still battled their way to a very respectful 19-25 deficit.

Noticeable performers included precise setting from Felix, a series of spikes from Josho and sterling work from Josh in both attack and defence.

Phil Husband, Director of Sport and Coach

Both BIS teams put into practice the recently learnt training tactics and will look to carry on the performance next week against SSIS (Home Mon 3 Oct) and ISHMC (Home Thurs 6 Oct).
