YR5 Visit APS for Science Circus

20 January 2017

Year 5 had a great experience this week when they visited APS to participate in a Science Circus. The children investigated different phenomena and will now prepare presentations to report back what they found out to the rest of the class.

This week all Year 5 classes visited An Phu Secondary Campus to participate in science lessons.

The activities started earlier in their own classroom where they were asked to do some back ground research and develop their own understanding by working together with other members of their group.

The topics covered included force, light and how it travels, testing acid and alkali substances and using microscopes. The children then visited APS and conducted an investigation. They recorded their results and drew conclusions.

The final part of the process will entail collating all their information within their group and creating a joint presentation which will give the other children in the class an insight into their specific investigation.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Science department and especially Ms Bee Smith, who organized the activities, and Mr Matt Lambert, Mr Waqaaz Shah and Ms Suzanne Mincher for working with the pupils to develop their understanding. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are already looking forward to visiting again in term 3.
