Fun is certainly the theme of my update this week and it has definitely been a very enjoyable first few months for me at BIS HCMC. The school is undoubtedly in a great place developmentally but, impressive as that may be, there is still a strong commitment from all stakeholders to drive the school forward to even greater heights. I have been so impressed with the energy and positivity of students, staff and parents during this half term. It is an absolute pleasure for me to be standing at one of the school entrances in the mornings welcoming students to school and briefly meeting parents, which is always a bonus.
It is clear that our students enjoy coming to school and this is a sure sign that the school is operating at a very healthy level. One really impressive and entertaining event this week was the “Battle of the Bands” held on Thursday in the Secondary Auditorium. There were seven bands competing with two ECA bands supporting and the atmosphere was loud and energetic as it should be at any rock concert. I adore music, particularly live music, and I was not disappointed in the quality of the performances during the “Battle of the Bands”. I would like to congratulate all performers along with Mr Ian Alexander and the Music department for putting it all together. Thank you also to the sound and light technicians for their great contribution to this special event.
We have a lot to look forward to in the coming months with many more enjoyable events in the pipeline. Additionally, we are now preparing for the opening of the new Early Years and Infant Campus in January. This campus is very close to our existing campuses in District 2 and it promises to be an outstanding new facility which will add further quality to the school. The only sad consequence of the opening of the new campus of course, is the closing of the TX Campus. Our TX campus has always been a place where each visitor is made to feel so welcome and has been a great exemplar of what BIS HCMC really stands for. However, we do have some wonderful events planned to celebrate the contribution that the TX campus has made to the development of BIS HCMC.
It just remains for me to now wish you an enjoyable weekend.
Mr Anthony Rowlands, Principal
