Parents’ Corner – 13/10/17

13 October 2017

You might not have seen red t-shirts around this week but that does not mean they are taking a break.  As usual between two events, the Parent Group is in a planning phase and one of the events they have in store is a parent lunch coming next week.

Book Swap Final Update

The book swap stall was opened for one last time on Monday morning for the latecomers to have a chance to swap their books.  In the afternoon Akiko, Minori, Lan and myself counted the left over books and cleared away the Book Swap stall.  Thank you for your help ladies.

Mr Luke met Ms Clover from the community service department the same afternoon to discuss which partners will receive the books.  This year we have 155 books in Vietnamese, with a wide range of reading material including baby books, children books and books for young adults.  These books will benefit more of our partners as not all the partners can take English books.

We will keep you informed about the delivery dates and like last year, we hope parents can join during the partner visits.

Halloween Fever

It’s about time!  The parent lunch is back next week on Wednesday at La Fenêtre Soleil, the only Indonesian restaurant in town.  Our culinary journey continues; we started here almost 3 years ago and each time we have had the chance to discover new cuisine explained by our native parents.

As October is the month of Halloween in some countries, the dress code was chosen according to this event.  It’s not compulsory; if you are a new parent at TX, please don’t feel pressured, the dress code is just for fun!

As we need to secure the booking, please register before Monday evening using this link here,

Terima kasih banyak (thank you very much)!

When: Wednesday 18th October

Where: La Fenêtre Soleil, 44 Ly Tu Trong, Q1, 08 3824 5994

Time: from 11:45am to 2:00pm

Dress code: Halloween fever (black and orange)

Price: 300,000VND per person

Cooking Class

This one has always been a favorite among parents and the cooking class is returning after the half term break.  Rashmi kindly accepted to teach us some Indian recipes.  Next week we will give more details about the date, time and location. Don’t miss it!

Meeting with Ms Mary

We met with Ms Mary on Friday to have a clear map of the events that the Parents will be involved with until the end of the term.  All details will be sent by your class rep regarding:

  • Teachers’ Day
  • TX Farewell
  • The Parent Choir for the Christmas Concert
  • The Christmas BISzarre

Have a relaxing weekend in preparation for the last week before the half term break.
