Parents’ Corner – 10/11/17

Past, Present and Future

…or present, future and just a quick trip back in time is what you will read in this week’s parent corner.

TX: At Present…

On Tuesday the choir had their third rehearsal and it’s all going very well, you'll be pleased to hear. They also took some time to discuss and choose the outfits that they're going to wear to the concert. Last year they surprised us with a red, green and long Christmas socks look, what will it be this year? I won’t spoil the fun, try to guess!

On Wednesday, Ms Mary and the parents moved one step forward in the TX party planning. Food has been chosen and ordered, balloon and face painting artists booked.

All parents will receive a letter with more details regarding the party. We kindly ask for your support. Don’t miss the party, the last one ever before TX closes its door. Included in the entrance package is a special TX badge for the children.

…to the Future

There is “life” after TX’s end and many exciting events will be taking place at the Junior campus and the Early Years and Infant campus; one of them being the International Week.

Last week, Ms Dee, Ms Mary, TX reps and APP reps met for the first time to begin to plan the new International Week together. Country reps will be invited to join during the next step of the planning phase.

Another important event in BIS HCMC life is the spring fair which we used to call the “School Fête” at TX. It’s the most important fundraiser of the academic year for the junior campus and an event children thoroughly enjoy.  The date will be either Saturday 24th or Sunday 25th March, however it’s already time to form the committee to prepare for the fair. If you are interested in joining, please sign up using this link:

On the sign up list, you can also see which committees need to have more volunteers. It’s a good time to sign up, get to know parents from APP and make new friends.

There’s great news for the Y6 leavers’ party as all slots have been taken and the committee will be starting to organise soon.

and the Past…

Until the last Parent Corner for TX, we’ll continue to go through TX memory lane...

This week, we are looking back at the last assembly in June 2015. 2015 academic year was a special one, not only because 12 teachers left TX after several years but, Ms Sue, who had been the Headteacher since 2009, left TX for BIS Hanoi.

That year for the last 2 days it was just farewells and surprises in almost every classroom. The opportunity came to surprise Ms Sue even more when she was called to a farewell in a classroom just to discover it was also for her!

Everyone in the TX community joined forces to give Ms Sue a beautiful “goodbye”. From teachers with their students, to the staff with an amazing slide show and the parents who created wonderful books of messages for Ms Sue to remember TX, everyone just wanted to make that very last day unforgettable.

One of the traditions that Ms Sue created at TX was the “teddy bear costume contest” during Year 3 at the school sleep over. So Mr Ian had kindly asked all the children to bring a teddy bear for the last assembly, but a teddy bear dressed as Ms Sue!  Little before the end of the assembly, Ms Sue was suddenly surrounded by teddy bears from all shapes and sizes and super nicely dressed.

You can find more pictures from that day by following this link:

And you, what is your best memory at TX? Please share it with us.

Have a lovely weekend,

Anne on behalf of the Parent Group.
