Parents’ Corner – 17/11/17

17 November 2017

There is always a reason to start counting days, especially in November. It could be because of Thanksgiving if you are from the USA, or you could already be thinking of December 12th, ‘El dia de la Guadalupe’, which is celebrated in Mexico, or you could even be planning and dreaming about Christmas. November and December are definitely the beginning of the holiday season.

  • Choir practice

Well at TX, parents are also counting days but for another reason: there are only 8 days left before the TX Leaving Party! The final meeting is on Wednesday 22nd November at 8am in the Multi-purpose Room and, as always, everyone is more than welcome to join us. There is always a possibility to step in and offer some help even at the last minute. This meeting will be about reviewing activities and the programme. The class reps will also receive the special TX badges and will be able to start giving them away to the children.

Let’s have a sneak peek of what will be happening on the day; face painting, balloon man, nail art, photo booth, lego building, auction, refreshments, TX’s Got Talent show…and more!

Don’t miss it!

Choir Update

With two rehearsals per week, the choir is now on track. They also accepted the invitation to join the show at the Christmas BISzaar in APS on December 2nd and will put together a mix between last year’s performance and this year’s. Of course, there are some surprises which will be kept for the final concert at TX on December 13th.

Please sign up to sell tickets at your campus using the Sign Up Genius link below OR you can choose to take a collection of 20 ticket books and sell them amongst family, friends and workmates.

Throwback TX

International Week 2014

November at TX used to be the month for the well acclaimed International Week. Today the time travel machine is taking us to International Week 2014.

It’s always a challenge for parents to find new ideas, year after year, for games and activities for this event. However, like in every edition, parents took the challenge and delivered another amazing day. The foyer was not the foyer anymore; each corner was an invitation to travel and discover a country. Children, parents and teachers could sit in a traditional Kuwait’s living room and share tea, coffee and dates. Going to India, they learnt how to make bangles and enjoyed ‘mehndi’. They just needed one stop in Malaysia to learn how to make a traditional hat. In Japan they could try the paper wrestling. The Philippines’s theme was not only about the beauty of its islands but also how to protect them. South Korea had a lot of success with writing the childrens names in the ‘hangeul’ alphabet. The Eiffel Tower (a 6 meter high version) stood in the playground. The Vietnamese room showed the diversity and beauty of outfits from around the country…and the buffet was just awesome, like every year. No wonder International Week is a favourite time of year for the BIS community.
