Happy Teacher’s Day

Teacher’s day is a very important day in Vietnam. This day, to thank teachers for their hard work and show them gratitude, is celebrated on different dates around the globe or in some countries, not at all. This year at TX, the parents wanted to make it special and different. Earlier in the month it was decided the best way to celebrate all of TX’s wonderful faculty would be to organise a breakfast.

With Teacher’s Day being on a Monday and breakfast needing to be set up at an early time, a team gathered and came on Saturday to prepare and decorate the staffroom. They turned the staffroom into a lovely party room. Even the youngest ones of our community helped!

The final touches were added on Monday morning. Parents came at 6.30am to make sure all food items and drinks were nicely displayed around the buffet table. By 7am, all teachers and TA’s enjoyed a delicious breakfast.

We would like to thank all parents for contributing to the breakfast and making it happen.

Surprise and Surprise

Last Friday, Parents gathered to surprise Linh who is expecting her baby in January. The date was so close to her birthday that the group decided to add a birthday cake to the occasion; double surprise for Linh, but not only one birthday! With Akiko’s birthday also being on the same day, the parents decided to celebrate hers too. It was actually nice to see, with it being a big surprise for both.

Parents played games such as “draw my baby”. Linh kept the drawings and has offered to compare once her baby girl is born and we truly hope she does not resemble any of our art pieces! Drawing, whilst holding the paper on your forehead, is not actually the best way to deliver a fine piece of artwork, but it was a lot of fun. Linh also discovered how bad parents can be when it comes to guessing the size of her baby bump. Almost everyone added more than 10cm to her actual size.

To conclude the lunch, we sang Happy Birthday to Linh and Akiko and cake was shared before everyone went back to TX to collect the children.

More pictures of the celebration can be found here.

Junior Campus Visit

On Monday 27th November starting at 9am all TX parents are invited for a tour of the An Phu Primary (APP) campus, which will soon be the Junior Campus. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the facilities and to get to know the staff.  The Senior Leaders at APP, Mr Simon (Headteacher), Ms Dee (Deputy Headteacher), Mr Chris (Assistant Headteacher) and Ms Sarah (Assistant Headteacher), will take you on a tour in groups of the buildings within APP.

Throwback of TX Memories: Thien Phuoc Parents’ Visit

There are many ways to be involved in the school community and the community service is one option. Parents have always been welcomed to support and visit the school partners upon arrangement with Ms Clover, Head of Community Service Department.

In May 2016, TX Parents spent one morning at Thien Phuoc Orphanage. Two months before, 56 million VND was raised at the TX School Fête and the money was used to purchase Thien Phuoc’s “wish list”; beds and rice cookers.  Parents had another surprise for the children that day; a magician and a balloon man.

One thing we have learnt through the school Community Service is that sustainability is more important than just “giving money”. Dedicating time out of our busy schedule is also valuable and rewarding. Community Service is a continuing story, our children are growing up meeting the children from the school partners and we can always be a part of it.

The full story on the visit can be read here and pictures can be viewed here.

Tomorrow is THE BIG DAY! TX leaving party is ON! Food, games, talent show and an auction of the TX’s successes are on the menu. Have a lot of fun and enjoy the very last party on TX ground.
