Last year, through the money raised at the Spring Fair, the PTG were able to support10 of our long term community partners with their wish lists.
Last week, Binh An received their school equipment to support with the children’s learning. This included equipment such as new school books, stationery and other teaching resources.
Sister Hanh at Binh An would like to thank the PTG, BIS HCMC staff and students for all the support they give their school!
Who are Binh An?
Binh An provides education for over 200 children who are disadvantaged in District 8. Many of the children come from families who have migrated from rural areas of Vietnam to HCMC for a better life. The children at Binh An are unable to go to government school for different reasons. Some children do not have the right paperwork (birth certificate, parent ID, area registration cards) and others need to work to support their families.
Through the education and training they receive at the school, the students are better equipped to integrate within society.
Binh An is one of the schools that are supported by the organisation Friends for Street children (FFSC). Click here for more information about their programmes.
BIS HCMC and Binh An School
Binh An have been taking part in a wide range of clubs across the 5 years we have worked with them. They have enjoyed clubs such as aerobics, swimming and eco club at APP. For the past 3 years, Mr Pete has led the Community Football Club which includes BIS HCMC and Binh An children. Where possible, we look to invite Binh An to celebrations in the school community, including Global Gafe and the Community Football Tournament.
As with all our community projects, we want our students to focus on the time and energy they spend with partners. However, thanks to the PTG and school donations, BIS are able to support them with their wish lists.
