Students Raise Over 66 Million VND for Community Partners

08 December 2017

If you were at the Christmas BISzaar on Saturday, you will have noticed that there was a big focus on ‘community’ this year. We celebrated the achievements of our BIS HCMC community with musical and dance performances from students on all campuses. We also celebrated the work we do in our wider community with over 21 stalls dedicated to Community Service at BIS.

Students ran stalls to raise awareness and funds for their Community CAS projects and Community ECAs. Some of our partners such as EAST, Christina Noble Children’s Foundation and FFSC were also there with a stall to raise awareness of their organisations.

From 8.30am, we had many students arrive to set up their stall on the basketball court. Most of the stalls had some kind of bake sale or refreshments to buy, as well as information about their community partner. By 10:00am the visitors were eager to take a look round the stalls and find out more about the amazing work our students do.

We were lucky enough to have very special performances from the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation’s Choir and Dance troupe. They sang some beautiful songs as well as performing a very Christmassy dance – they even had their own snow and a father Christmas! The PTG gave all the CNCF students and volunteers vouchers to spend on any food/games that they wanted and a lot of fun was had by all!

The morning was a great success with many visitors’ bellies full! More importantly, many people left the BISzaar knowing more about the community projects and the wonderful work our students do within their community.

In total, we had 21 tables with over 80 students helping throughout the morning. The students raised a spectacular 66,190,000 VND which will go towards supporting their community partners. Well done to everyone involved.
