Tết is the most important celebration in Vietnamese culture, honouring the arrival of spring. The celebration brings with it delicious food like bánh chưng, bánh giầy, dưa hấu and traditional customs such as ancestor worship, wishing New Year's greetings and giving lucky money. Tết symbolises the time of the year where people can forget about the troubles of the past year and together with their families, look towards the future.
This time is as special for children of our community partners as it is for everyone else in Vietnam. Tết is a time of happiness but it can also be a time of family and financial pressures. One way that we can support our partners and their families is by running the annual Tết collection. This involves a collection of toys, stationery, rice and noodles from the school community. These items are then thoughtfully distributed to our school community partners that we work with throughout the year.
This year, our school community showed great care and compassion towards our partners by donating an exceptional amount for them to enjoy during this important time. The response from each campus has been overwhelming!
