Mr Carl Mincher: Weekly Update 10/03/2017

10 March 2017

This morning we held our last Parent Teacher Group meeting before the final Annual General Meeting to be held on 26th April. Our current committee is stepping down and so we are looking for four parents to take up the reins of the PTG. Each committee does so much to support the school and the students and we are very grateful to parents who put in so much time to support us. Please do consider taking on a role on the PTG - each committee brings their own unique approach but the one thing they all have in common is enthusiasm. If you would like to find out more about taking on a role in the committee please contact our PTG on and they will be delighted to hear from you.

Whatever The Weather - Spring Music Concert

Spring Concert 17

Photos and an overview of the Spring Music Concert held at Ben Thanh Theatre are now available on the school website. A wonderful music event which I hope you all enjoyed as much as we did! This morning at the PTG meeting I had an interesting discussion with parents regarding the importance of music in the learning and life of students at BIS and the role that some of our Secondary students are playing in helping to develop an appreciation for music among some of our very talented Primary musicians too.

Year 12 Geography Student’s Coursework in Dalat

Y12 Geography Field Trip (Dalat)

Our intrepid Year 12 Geography students and teachers headed off to Dalat last week to collect river data for their Internal Assessment. The visit also enabled the students to develop the way in which they think critically and reflect upon the interrelationships between people and their environment.

In the words of Mr Mark Hadley, Head of Geography ‘ It was not only a delight to see the students rise to this challenge during the trip, but we are also able to see how their mindset has changed back in the classroom’.

PTG Social

In a very well attended event last night parents and teachers met up to socialise at the Boathouse restaurant over drinks and snacks. Events such as these help to bond our school community and also provide a school social event for our working parents who are at times unable to attend events held during the school day.

Details of the PTG year group lunches which take place during the week of 24th April will be announced later in the term.
